A week into the Dive Durban expedition and the team has completed 10 dives, all of which have proved that the KZN south coast has some of the best diving in the world.

Day 1 of diving the team and I wake up to a stunning African sunrise overlooking the ocean on the South Coast of Kwazulu-Natal. As we head to our dive destination the humpback whales are already putting on a show splashing about in the distant horizon.

In a first for Durban and KwaZulu-Natal a team of intrepid scuba divers will set off on July 8 for a three-week ocean adventure to explore and profile the east coast’s unique marine diversity. Organised under the banner of Durban Green Corridors, in partnership with the eThekwini Municipality, the Dive Durban expedition aims to encourage scuba diving tourism to the city and the province.

Sharks, whales, dolphins, extreme swings and slides, wildebeest, snakes and crocodiles, indigo blue sea, action-packed boat rides, turtles and grilled fish on the beach. All this and much more is what the Dive Durban expedition team experienced in just four days at the KZN south coast town of Shelly Beach.
